First, be honest about what eazyBI is
eazyBI is a full BI platform inside Jira: multi-source imports (Tempo, Assets/Insight, external SQL and REST APIs), custom cubes, and MDX-calculated measures that can compute very nearly anything. If your organization needs cross-tool business intelligence and has someone who enjoys building it, eazyBI is excellent and you should probably keep it. This page isn't for you.
It's for the teams we keep meeting: they bought a BI platform, and what they actually use is five delivery charts one admin built eight months ago — and nobody dares touch the MDX behind them.
The three reasons teams switch
1. The formula language. Basic eazyBI reports don't need MDX, but the moment you want a custom measure — a percentile, a derived metric, a conditional count — you're writing MDX calculated members. That makes reporting a specialist skill: dashboards get built once, by one person, and then go stale. In Spectra, cycle time, time-in-status, WIP aging, SLA state, reopens, and percentiles (median, p75, p85, p90) are built-in dimensions and measures — you pick them from a dropdown. The moment a metric needs a formula, most of your team stops self-serving. The dropdown is the feature.
2. Where the data lives. eazyBI for Jira Cloud imports your issue data into eazyBI's own database, hosted on Google Cloud — europe-west1 (Belgium) by default, with Virginia and Sydney available on request. Their docs say so plainly, and to their credit they limit what they keep: dimension and measure data plus selected custom fields and status transition history — not issue descriptions, comments, or attachments. For many teams that is perfectly acceptable. For others — regulated industries, a residency requirement their default region doesn't match, or a security team that vetoes adding any new external processor — the copy itself is the dealbreaker, whichever region it lands in. Spectra is pure Forge: the computation happens inside Atlassian's infrastructure, and nothing is copied out. Your data residency is whatever your Jira's already is, with no second processor to put through review (why that matters).
3. The bill — if you're under a few hundred users. eazyBI is premium-priced at small and mid scale, and raised its Cloud prices in December 2025. At 100 users it is 6× Spectra. But that gap is a function of instance size, and we'd rather you hear the whole shape of it from us than discover it at renewal — see the second table below. Spectra is $0.50 per user per month, $0.25 at scale, free up to 10 users, every feature at every tier.
The math, on a 100-user instance
Prices were checked on both Marketplace pricing tabs on 22 July 2026 — verify current prices on eazyBI's listing and Spectra's listing. Both apps bill every user on the instance at the tier rate — neither gives you a discount on the first ten once you are past the ten-user tier — and annual billing is exactly ten months' worth. The difference is the rate.

Same instance, same billing model, an exactly 6× difference. Two caveats we'd rather give you ourselves.
First: that 6× is a small-to-mid-scale number, and it does not last. Spectra holds $0.50 per user all the way to 1,000 seats, while eazyBI's volume discounts fall away steeply above 100. So the gap narrows fast, closes around 2,500 users, and past that eazyBI is genuinely the cheaper app:

If you run Jira at enterprise scale, price is simply not your reason to look at Spectra — the other two are. We'd rather say that here than have you work it out after a migration.
Second: those are new-customer rates. eazyBI's published Marketplace pricing also lists a lower renewal rate for existing subscriptions, so if you have been on eazyBI since before the December 2025 increase, your renewal quote is likely well below the numbers above. Check your actual invoice before you use this table to build a business case.
One thing eazyBI doesn't do: dashboards you explore
eazyBI reports are deep — you can drill into a measure and expand hierarchies. But a Spectra dashboard is linked: click any bar, slice, or pivot cell and every other widget on the page refilters to your selection. “Of the blocked work, who owns it, and how long has it been stuck?” is three clicks on one screen, not a report rebuild. For the stakeholders who will never write a query — which is most of them — that is the difference between a dashboard they read and one they use.

When to stay with eazyBI
Multi-source BI (Jira plus Tempo plus a database), an analyst who is fluent in MDX and builds what everyone else consumes, reporting requirements that go past delivery metrics into custom business logic — or an instance north of about 2,500 users, where eazyBI's volume pricing beats ours outright. Genuinely: keep it. Some teams run both — eazyBI for the quarterly business deep-dives, Spectra for the dashboards the team opens every morning.
Trying it costs nothing
Spectra is free up to 10 users, and the templates make the evaluation fast: install it, point the Cycle time & flow template at your busiest project, and compare it to the eazyBI report you actually use most.
